Thai Goes...To Miscellaneous Moments in Gender Relations

Men on the left, presumably.

For their own reasons, not all Americans like Europeans. Predictably, there is a lack of "like" going the other way across the ocean as well. But perhaps the above image—a photo I took at the Chiang Mai headquarters of the button-up NGO Child's Dream (co-founded by former Swiss bankers)—will help to increase mutual understanding. Europe, rather like the U.S., includes men and women with different anatomical features who occasionally need to find a restroom.

Meanwhile, our learning cohort was treated to a presentation by co-founder Daniel Marco Siegfried, who, in 2003, left his lucrative post in a Swiss bank and helped to establish a charitable organization. Child's Dream is dedicated to empowering children and youth in Burma (Myanmar), Laos, Cambodia and Thailand through health and education programs. You can read more about their story through this cool photo book.

Thai Goes is an ongoing journal from my two-week Doctor of Ministry residency in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in January. The focus of the learning cohort was to experience and study the intersections of faith and global development.
